BLN-R/Habitat for Humanity Build Day was August 28, 2024
BLN-R hosted a Boeing Build Day with Habitat for Humanity. We had fabulous weather and a great turn out of active and retired Boeing employees.
The entire team tackled various aspects of installing windows in newly framed homes at Habitat’s Yarrow Cottages location in the South Park south of Seattle.
There are plenty of volunteer opportunities yet to come at Yarrow Cottages. If you are not interested in construction Habitat is encouraging volunteers to help at their Re-Store home stores. If interested, contact Tom buckeyetom81@gmail.com.
The build location is located in South Park (west of Boeing Field). The site is called Yarrow Cottages.
About Habitat for Humanity
The Yarrow Cottage site is an example of Habitat moving to townhomes for efficient space utilization of urban lots and providing common areas for recreation and parking.
Resident Profile
• Must have income less than 80% AMI
• Homes will be resale restricted to provide for permanent affordability
• Must be willing to partner and complete sweat equity hours
• Must meet lender requirements and secure financing to meet minimum mortgage amount
Financial Information
Habitat requires our homebuyers to finance the purchase of their home with a mortgage. Any portion of the projected purchase price which is not covered by the mortgage, cash down payment, and/or down payment assistance will be provided by Habitat.
For Yarrow Cottages, the housing payments will be between $1,450.00 – $2,020.00. A monthly payment is based on the applicant’s income and household size. Homebuyers must show that they can afford this payment without being cost-burdened (defined as spending more than 35% for your gross income for housing).
